Old Goa based Sunshine Worldwide School, one of the premier educational institutes in the state is organizing ‘Sunfest 2017’ – a signature event, to mark its 15th anniversary of existence and commitment to the philosophy, which is to awaken the intelligence of every student so that he or she may ‘flower in goodness’. It will be a three day event to be held between 13th to 15th October at Kala Academy & SAG Grounds, Campal. The theme for the event is Educate, Experience and Enjoy.

Highlights of the events as below:

TEDxSunshineWorldwideSchool, an independently organised TED like event

‘Sunfest 2017’ will kick start with a globally recognized TED talks like event – TEDxSunshineWorldwideSchool on the 13th of October between 9am and 1 pm at the Black Box at Kala Academy and will host a mix of National & Goan speakers who will share their unique ideas that are worth spreading. This is the first school in Goa to take this initiative. Speakers include:

Ashok Kumar Thakur (Founder of Muni International School)

Army discipline & rigorous training mounted on his father’s deep rooted values and his inner deep pain of missing education gave Ashok determination to provide quality education for children from the lower strata of society.

 Charlene Farrell, is a psychology teacher, psychologist and counsellor at Sunshine Worldwide School. Her passion has always been working with adolescents and their issues.

Jeroninio Almeida (Jerry) is a teacher, celebrated inspirational Orator & motivational speaker, social entrepreneur and a Management consultant, Leadership Trainer & Life Coach. He is the author of Karma Kurry for the Mind, Body, Heart and Soul.

Kenneth Alvares, is a self-taught developer and designer, who at the age of 18 is freelancing as a full stack developer, developing websites, devising blogging strategies, social media management and SEO strategies.

Tallulah D’Silva is an award-winning architect for cost effective and sustainable private residencies and hospitality projects in Goa, whose ideas like Ecoloo and G2H2O where waste is converted into a resource, have been implemented successfully in Goa.

Dr. Suvarna R.C Fonseca e Antao and Zuleika Juliet Antao. This mother-daughter duo will be speaking together. Dr Suvarna is a lecturer in biology in Carmel Higher Secondary, homeopathic physician and environmentalist. Her daughter Zuleika, participated in a national level science exhibition and competition in 2015 called INSPIRE in Delhi. She was awarded a silver medal by President Pranab Mukherjee. She aims to make the world a better place.

Aditya Jhunjhunwala is a Mechanical Engineer with PGDBM from IIM Ahmedabad. He is the founder of ADIPA, an innovative ceramic gifting business. Creator of Lifeschool Ignite, that conducts a mentoring program called ‘Dancing with Tigers’ to develop inspired youth, who have the desire to live a brilliant life and the courage to become ‘Forces of Goodness.’ is a ticketed event with limited 100 seats available.

National Conference on Education on Experiential Education in Schools

In keeping with the commitment to further the cause of education, the school will host a National Conference on Education with Speakers & Experts from all over India coming together. This will be held on the 14th as well as the 15th of Oct from 9 am to 4 pm at Kala Academy.

The two-day summit has been organised by AGGRUSA (All Goa Government Recognised Unaided Schools Association). School owners, principals and teachers from all over India are expected to attend the event.

The topic for Day 1 will be the implementation of Experiential Education in Schools and uninterrupted quality education for the 21st Century children, in line with national and international expectations. The event is open to all teachers and interested persons. The speakers for the day are Mr. Narendra Goidani, Ms. Swati Popat, Ms. Kiran Bir Sethi and her team, Dr. Gururaj Karajagi, Ms. Arpita Mittal, Ms. Liza Sreedharan,  Mr. Alok Mathur and Dr. Ajit K Huilgol.

Day 2 is open only to School Owners, Principals and Administrators. There will be a Panel Discussion on Education for a Developed India on matters of advocacy and governance and the coalition of all national private unaided school associations under a single umbrella. The speakers will include Mr. Deepak Khaitan, Mr. Kulbhushan Sharma, Dr. A Senthil Kumaran, Dr. Damodar Goyal, Prof. Mathew C Ninan and Mr. Anirudh Khaitan. The members of the Panel Discussion are: Ms. Priyamvada Taneja, Dr Jagbir Singh (Chairman Haryana Board of Education), Mr. G.P. Bhat (Director of Education, Goa), Mr. Nagaraj Honnekeri (Director Goa SCERT) and Mr. Amit Chandra.

Food, Music, Dance, Theatre & Entertainment at SAG Grounds, Campal

On all three days – 13, 14 and 15th Oct, from 5 pm onwards the Celebration will also feature theater, music, dance and entertainment performances at the SAG Grounds, Campal. Students will perform a musical ‘We Will Rock You’ based on the music of the popular rock band Queen. Additionally, an art mela called ATLANTIS by the students will be held. Food stalls, fun rides, games for children, activities and other stalls will entertain people.
