“K-OSS have always had a very exciting planning process as the students work very hard to make this event a grand success. This year, the unique theme ‘Street Life’ helped shape the event into and made it a grand success said Mrs. Radhika Nayak, the Principal of S.S. Dempo College of Commerce & Economics.
This year K-OSS had taken up the theme ‘Street Life’, which witnessed an additional flavour of the classic DesiTadka. Along the lines of the theme, ‘K-OSS’ have featured a unique design in terms of décor and organisation of events which has been tailored to portray the theme at its best. An array of unique and economic ideas was put together to bring out the best of talents in the participants through events taking place over three days at the Campal and Taleigao Venue.
One of the unique events of K-OSS 2016 was Swachh Goa. This event required the participants to clean up a street or alley that needs urgent attention. A video of the same had to be submitted that depicts the before and after scene at the cleaning site. The event not only contributed towards awareness on environmental hygiene and cleanliness but also made the student community aware of the need of maintaining a clean environment.
‘Walk the Street’ gave the college level fashion show a whole new meaning and definition. Trying to transcend the basic level of throwing together a costume, this fashion show event aimed to motivate the students to churn out economical and well-designed garments that are aesthetically appealing.
Another eye catching event was the Street Bazaar that captured the essence of street life. The participants were allotted a space at the venue at which they had to set up a stall and sell their wares with catchy slogans. The scene was one nostalgic of the typical Goan markets and also proves to be quiet entertaining. Along with the innovative tag line for their products, the costume of the vendor was also being judged. This event thus portrayed the true essence and the spirit of the streets.
Other interesting events were Nukkad Natak, Boggies street,Nautanki, 3rd Degree, Mr. & Miss. K-OSS, War of the DJs, Jodi No.1, Tug of War, Gully Cricket, Rangeela, Khulja Sim Sim, I CanDo it, Bluff Masters, Balwaan, Street Revolution and Capture it.
