As part of the ongoing Golden Jubilee celebrations, Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts and Science, Margao, hosted Professor Sugata Mitra who delivered a talk to the students and faculty members on the ‘Future of Learning’. Professor Sugata Mitra was in Goa to speak to teachers at St Joseph’s Primary School, Vasco and Chowgule College, Margao.

 

Best known for his ‘Hole in the Wall’ experiment, Professor Sugata Mitra recently won the one million dollar TED Prize for the year 2013. Previous winners of the award include Bill Clinton, Bono and Jamie Oliver among others. TED is a nonprofit devoted to ideas worth spreading. It started out as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: technology, entertainment, and design.  Dr. Sugata Mitra is a long-term educationist and a scientist of international repute. He has over 25 inventions and first-time applications in the areas of Cognitive Science, Information Science and Education Technology, to his credit. Dr. Mitra has been the Chief Scientist at NIIT and is currently Professor of Educational Technology at Newcastle University, UK. 

 

Professor Sugata Mitra interacted with the students and faculty members at Chowgule College and encouraged them to adopt different methods of teaching and learning.
