The Gadre Gaspar Dias Open 2021 witnessed a new champion as Praneeth Venugopal won the finals in a thrilling match against Tejas Shevde 6-4, 3-6, 2-1. With the tennis fans gathered on court one, Praneeth ran away with the first set 6-4 but could not sustain the momentum he had and lost the second set 3-6. Tejas looked threatening after taking the second set and pushed Praneeth all the way in the deciding third set. The final set went on to 2-1 (Tejas retired) in favor of Praneeth as he sealed the victory to claim his first Gadre Gasper Dias Open.
The popular Ladies Singles category also saw a new champion as Shreya Deshpande took on Simran Bundela on the main court. All through the tournament Shreya has been in sublime form and continued to show the same in the finals. Shreya Deshpande and Simran went head to head in their quest for the trophy with Shreya taking the first set 7-5. In the final set of the game, Shreya put on a masterclass as she dismantled Simran 6-0 winning the title 7-5, 6-0.
In the Men’s Doubles category the pairing of Nishad Shevde and Tejas Shevde won over Suraj Bikkanawar and Praneet Venugopal 7-6; 6-4 in straight sets. Over in Mixed Doubles category Amar Dariyanavar and Mukta Patil got the better of Santosh Gorawar and Simran Khan 6-3, 6-2.
The finals of the U-16 Boys category saw Ankit Batheja get the better of Saiel Gajinkar 6-2, 6-1. Over in the Girls U-16 category, Shreya Deshpande won over Ritika Dawalkar 6-1, 6-1.
The U-12 category of Boys saw Sarthak Gaikwad and Arav Eshwar battle it out for the title with Sarthak coming up triumph 4-1, 4-2 in straight sets to claim the Gadre Gaspar Dias Open 2021 trophy.

Gadre Gaspar Dias Open 2021 commenced with over 500 entries coming in across eight categories. The tournament is being organized by Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias, Goa’s first tennis club in partnership with Goa State Tennis Association (GSTA) and Gadre Premium Seafood.
The committee took all COVID-19 related safety measures. A maximum of four players were allowed on the court at all times while spectators and parents were prohibited from entering the court. Sanitisation of the facility and equipment was conducted on a regular basis.
