The two day biking festival India Bike Week 2019 saw more than 15,000 people from across the country ride in to celebrate the biggest biking extravaganza in Asia. Vagator, Goa was transformed into a wonderland for bikers with some of the biggest names in bike design participating in the event. Moreover there were bike launches, racing track, bike stunt arenas, rare edition bikes, shopping arenas with biking accessories to die for, music, food and much more.
Popular stunt biker Rok Bagaros judged the final Stunt Winner and himself battled with the winner to showcase some of the best biking stunts to cheering crowds for the second day in a row at the IBW 2019.
Some of the most talented motorsports riders in the country like Ashish Rao Rane, Simran King, Aishwarya Pissay, Rajni Krishnan came together at #IBW2019 to share insights on the world of motorsports and also shed some light on how people can take it up as a career that was well within the reach of everyone.
The collectors corner saw some of the passionate bike collectors display bikes from their favorite collection. Swaran Bajaj, director, Punjab Sindh Dairy Products, whose bike collection includes Victory Vision (Only one in India), Yamaha Midnight Warrior, BMW Grand America, Indian Roadmaster Elite etc. displayed some of his rarest bikes. Hafez Contractor displayed his favourites amongst his 60+ vintage bikes that he has officially restored for the past 20 years. Jehangir Faroogh who is known for collecting vintage bikes and owns AJS H7 1927 and overhead valve racing machine, BSA B31, BSA M 21 – 600cc, Norton ES2, Royal Enfield Mini Meteor 1952, to name a few, exhibited some of his collection.
The best of the best from the motorcycle community took a break from their wild journeys to share their stories and tales of grit, dirt and endurance from the road. Candida Louis, Pankaj Trivedi, Ashish Rao Rane and Debu & DJ were some of the key speakers who spoke extensively about their travels, passion for their machines and inspired several bikers to travel beyond their wildest dreams.
The Brotherhood parade was a special one by the ‘Sea Riders’ group from the Goa Navy Region, who recently concluded the North East and Coastal rides. Present were Rear Admiral Philipose G Pynumootil, Nau Sena medal Flag Officer, Goa Naval Area with his Sea Riders. Niels Peter Jensen, the initiator for ‘Helmets for India’, an essential project which highlights the importance of a wearing a helmet which is a simple item of protective gear that can save thousands of lives.
India’s famous Bike Builders – Rezza Hussain, Vijay Singh, Adil Dumasia, Leroy, Arjun Raina, Aditya Deshmukh and Kyle Pereira who are some of the finest metal craftsmen of the land showcased their craft. On display were some of the most stunning custom-built and classic motorbikes.
At Day 2 of India Bike Week innovators and makers across India came together to bring in some of newest innovations in biking which were on display.
Winners at India Bike Week
The Harley-Davidson flat track saw some amazing participations this year and gave away cash prize worth One Lakh Rupees. The Hill climb saw Neils Peters (Helmets For India) win the track days by setting the fastest record of 21.55 seconds followed by Mahesh Chowghule (21.8 second) and Abrar Bin Ayub (22.22 seconds). IBW Honour Roll award was bagged by Rajini Krishnan for his decades long stardom in motor sports.
The very successful India Bike Week 2019 culminated with music that celebrated moto-culture. Day 2 saw bikers rave to some excellent music being played on the main stage through a stellar line-up of artists at #IBW2019 like DJ Sureal ft Dr. Zoo, DJ Ritviz who got the entire bikers crowd raving to his beats and more.
