After mesmerising Panjim with the finest Goan souvenirs and mementos, Marcou Artifacts opened its doors to the people of Margao. The newest curio destination located at Margao’s historic Abade Faria road was inaugurated today in the presence of proprietor Gaurav Khaunte, design partner and creative head Francisco Martins and Emiliano Da’Cruz among others. The lifestyle store houses some of the most exquisite pieces in ceramics, terracotta, fiber resin and azulejos.
Marcou Artifacts, a curio destination for some of the finest Goan souvenirs and mementos is an idea that came into existence when Francisco Martins and Anil Counto were on a trip to Portugal. During their trip, they were inspired to pioneer ceramic products and unique souvenirs depicting Goan culture. They merged their mutual interests in art to start Marcou Artifacts.
The idea behind starting Marcou was to offer people outside Goa, a symbolic remembrance of Goa. The first store was inaugurated at Fontainhas, Panjim in April 2012 followed by another store at Delmon Hotel, Panaji last year.
All the products are handmade and designed by local artisans at its current factory set up in Corlim. The products are a fusion of creativity and quality which promotes local talent in an earnest effort to spread the Goan culture and its rich heritage beyond the shores of its land.
Said Gaurav Khaunte of Marcou Artifacts, “The products at Marcou Artifacts depict Goan themes and elements. The whole venture was based on the idea that wherever people go, they’ll take a part of Goa with them. Also, our products are an ideal choice for tourists who want to take a memory of Goa along with them or gift someone something special.”
Marcou Artifacts currently offers a wide range of ceramics, products made of clay and terracotta, azulejos and more. The products include mugs, vases, serving trays, bowls of different shapes and ceramic creatures. Miniature figurines of Goa’s much loved cartoonist Mario Miranda are also available.
The store in Margao is located opposite Chef cold storage on Abade Faria road, Margao.
