HDFC Bank Ltd today opened a 2-person rural mini-branch at Maina-Curtorim in Goa.

HDFC Bank is reaching out to more people across the country through its mini-branches which are primarily two or three member branches.  These new-format branches have been especially created to service the unique requirements of the rural customer and to allow HDFC Bank to take banking services to every part of the country.

A mini branch is designed to be cost-effective by maximizing efficiency of space, infrastructure, technology and processes. The product range at a mini branch is comparable to that in a traditional branch and the two members are available to provide customers an array of services.  The two-person branch works closely with the nearest large branch, operating as hub and spoke to cater to a particular geography and ensure that all products and services are made available to customers.

Maina-Curtorim is situated in the south of Goa, and is known as the granary of Salcete, the district in which it lies. It is home to the Church of St Alex, one of the oldest churches in Goa built in 1597 against the backdrop of the lake Angoddi Tollem. An ancient Hindu temple dedicated to the deity Shree Shantadurga is also located nearby.

The branch in Maina-Curtorim will cater to the local population of approximately 19,000. It is located near St. Rita’s church at H. No. 190/ A-IV GF, St. Rita Church, Maina-Curtorim, Salcete Goa-403709 and can be contacted at 08322786436

The new branch was inaugurated by Mr. Alex R. Lourenco, MLA, Curtorim, in the presence of Mr Jorge Bravo D’Costa, Circle Head, HDFC Bank, Mr Ajit Dalvi, Cluster Head, HDFC Bank and other senior officials of the bank.

Speaking about the new branch, Mr. Ravi Narayanan, Branch Banking Head, HDFC Bank said: “The growth of our network in Goa reiterates our commitment to support inclusive growth and take banking services to every part of India. With the mini-branch format, we are able to offer rural customers our full-range of products through a viable model without compromising on the quality of our service offering.”

“The new branch at Maina-Curtorim will remain open 6 days a week and enable customers to undertake day-to-day transactions and experience the wide range of banking solutions offered by us. We are happy to be part of the local populace and look forward to enjoying a long and mutually beneficial relationship with the people of Curtorim.” said Mr Jorge Bravo D’Costa.

The Curtorim branch is headed by Mr. Siddhesh Chodnekar, Branch Manager.

With 53% of all its branches now located in semi-urban and rural areas, HDFC Bank is extending its reach in the hinterland in order to support inclusive growth.

With this launch, the Bank now has 63 branches in the state. As of June 30, 2013, the Bank had a distribution network with 3,119 branches and 11,088 ATMs in 1,891 cities/towns.

The new branch will offer customers world-class banking services under one roof ranging from basic services such as Savings Account, Fixed Deposits, Current Account, Mutual Funds, Insurance, Two-wheeler loan, Auto loan to sophisticated direct access banking channels such as ATM, PhoneBanking, NetBanking and International Credit and Debit Cards.
