The Goa Institute of Management (GIM), one of the premier B-schools in the country, recently organized ‘Inception 2016’. Starting as a small event in 2011 Inception has grown to be one of the best musical events there is across B- Schools in India. Over 5 years of its existence Inception had some of India’s most popular musicians playing at the campus. The star performers included Dill Vineet, Manmohan Raj, Welsey Aaron, Mohd. Arif Ali, Chaitanya, Ravindra Chary, Satyajit Talwalkar, Sangeet Haldipur, Gino Banks, Sheldon D’Silva and Anusha Mani.
The event kicked off with Pitch Perfect a solo singing competition, followed by group dance performance. The evening began with GIM’s own students displaying their musical talents on stage. The evening was truly a fusion of different genres of music and an ensemble of various musical instruments.
In the Pitch Perfect solo singing competition, Abhishek Sharma was declared the winner and won the cash prize of Rs. 2000 while Nishad Matonkar received the first runner up position and a cash prize of Rs. 1000. The most awaiting competition of the night Battle of the Bands was won by ‘Within Ceres’ who won a cash prize of Rs 20000. The first runner up position was grabbed by ‘War Within’ who received a cash prize of Rs. 10000.
Inception 2016 witnessed a stand-up comedy act for the second year running. Chuck Gopal aka Deepak Gopalakrishnan, was back with his rib-tickling humour on B-Schools, politics and a host of other topics.
The headlining band for Inception 2016, Akshar from Hyderabad took centre-stage with their Indie-Rock music which included rendition of some of the classics in Indian music.
To add to the ambiance of the musical event, the students at GIM also set up a food court offering a variety of eats and drinks.
