Picture 2 - Drishti lifeguards along with beach goers celebrated India's 70th Independence Day at Calangute beach

The lifeguards of Drishti Lifesaving, who man Goa’s 105 km coastline celebrated the 70th Independence Day of India along with beach goers at Goa’s popular beaches, Calangute and Colva.

The celebrations began with the hoisting of the tri-colour flag at the lifeguard towers, followed by singing of the National Anthem. Demonstrations on lifesaving techniques and CPR were given by the lifeguarding team to people assembled at the venue. A session on general awareness with regards to beach safety and the do’s and don’ts was held for swimmers and beach goers, at the beach. The general public were also given a session on keeping the beaches clean, highlighting one of the main points, that is, to avoid drinking while at the beach. The program concluded with planting of trees in association with the panchayat followed by distribution of sweets.

The flag was hoisted by ex-service man P.N. Pandey, General Manager, Operations Drishti at Calangute and ex-service man Prem Singh, HR Manager, Drishti at Colva.

Drishti Lifesaving provides professional lifeguard services on behalf of the Department of Tourism, Government of Goa along the coastline of Goa. Over 700 trained lifeguards provide dedicated service across the beach stretch of Goa and internal water bodies of Dudhsagar and Mayem Lake.
