The sands of Candolim went Supersonic for the first time as a host of India and the world’s finest DJs gave birth to Goa’s newest EDM Festival: Vh1 Supersonic.
The inaugural day of this festival saw two exhilarating stages — the massive Laboratoire Supersonique and the brilliant, LED-packed Spectrum — give music fans two completely unique, individual experiences within the overall festival.
The Laboratoire Supersonique stage was highlighted by Goldfish + Blink’s energetic, mashup filled set, Henrik B’s brand of banging Swedish house music, and Alvaro’s big-room beats. Alvaro’s set in particular reminded festivalgoers why Tiesto handpicked the young Dutchman as the standout DJ/producer of 2013.
Over on the Spectrum stage, immersive visuals gave Supersonic fans the perfect optical complement to the rhythmic psy-trance, progressive, and trance pulsing through oceanside air. Two of India’s finest acts, Helium Project and Audiogramme, reminded the grooving crowd why the country’s psychedelic trance scene is arguably the finest in the world. Pulse and Tristan then took the energy to new, explosive heights by giving crowd the euphoric reward it had been waiting for.
It was an exciting beginning to a brand-new chapter in Goa’s long EDM history, a festival that once again brings a sense of community and togetherness to the fore.
