With a successful kick start to the All Goa Boxing Championship which was declared open by the Head of Human Resource of Fomento Resources also present for the inaugural was editor of Prudent Media, Pramod Acharya.

The association inaugurated their official office of Boxing Association by chairman, Rules and Technical Commission, Boxing Federation of India, and vice president of Goa Boxing Association, Lenny D’Gama; wife of Chief Minister Sulakshana Sawant, and MD Veritas Sports, Nikhil Sen on day one of the Goa State Boxing Championship 2020 at the Boxing Hall in Peddem

It was also a prestigious evening after a modified logo of Goa Boxing Association was unveiled that now has a male and female boxer that resonates equality in the sport and moving forward in time with a stylised version created by Alecstor Silveira.

Not only the office and logo was brought to light but also an anthem for Goa Boxing Association was released by the composer Mukesh Ghatwal. Bringing out the essence of the fierce and exciting sport, the song has a typical Goan flavour sung in Konkani called ‘Marr Taka, Fodd Taka.’

On speaking to the boxers and coaches, Sulakshana Sawant who was delighted to see the turn out for the State Boxing Championship said, “Many aren’t aware of this sport and about how it is being played in Goa. I am happy to be here, and hope to see this sport being developed and being taken to new heights”.

Said Lenny D’Gama, “Since 1976 Boxing is being played in Goa. There is a vision and somehow that seems to be materialising and I hope that Governemt of Goa will help in making the dream of having a residential boxing academy a reality in Goa.”

Earlier in the day, the inaugural of the championship saw all boxers across 5 categories that are Cadet, Sub Junior, Junior, Youth and Elite – Men and Women participate.

The first day of the championship had a total of 15 bouts.
